Greetings earthlings and all others who read this page! I apologize for my absence. It’s been an interesting few months. New things:
1. I’m in school, finishing up my degree (in Creative Writing, no less!). I tried to do my best and stay focused on the first term of school. It finishes in 2 weeks so this is the perfect opportunity to re-focus on my writing.
2. The kids are home for the summer. Y’all….I adore them. I really do. They’re funny and sweet (sometimes) but they are driving me up the wall. The “snacks” alone are totally insane. I’m only a couple weeks in and I’m frantically yanking my hair out for things to keep them entertained.
3. Brain freeze. I hesitate to call it a “writers block” because I was writing new stuff. It just wasn’t on any book I’d outlined or wanted to work on. And then things changed.
I became aware of a writing conference (convention?) here in Chicago at the end of the month and thought it would be a great opportunity to do something totally new for me. Included? A chance to pitch a novel to a literary agent or junior publisher.
Now, the brain is whirling. Do I pitch Family Ties, which is finished and already able to be purchased online? Do I pitch something that is the most finished of all my stories? Do I pitch a novel closer to the same structure of Family Ties (more suspense and less romance)? Do I pitch something totally different? Do I work my ass off to finish Savior?
So many options! 16 days until pitch day!
